I want to travel to Moscow and St Petersburg the end of April and first 2 weeks of May however I just found out about the Labor Day and Victory Day Holidays which each fall on Tuesday the 2nd and the 9th of May. I will be entering Russia from Kiev and exiting thru Tallin. Do these holidays mean that I could run into travel problems with "long weekends" being booked for train travel thru this planned route of mine? Do I need to make reservations in advance especially if I want sleeping accommodations along this route? I am hesitant to do this and be locked into a particular timetable...however I do not want to find myself unable to travel due to crowds. Will I have the same problem with hostel reservations? Also will a lot of tourist sights be closed due to these holidays?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
